My work as a carpenter

I started in SnekkerBjørn the 22nd go April.
First: I am the first girl in the firm and I am very proud of that.
Our first thing to do was to get rid of the roof of the oldest barn in Bodø.
The building is from 1893 and we were only allowed to remove the rotten wood!
But there where quite a lot of that!!!

Even though I am a girl and that I have just started my education I was thrown
into the hard work right away. It was kind of nice the first day because it was
the same day I had to say goodbye to my father who drove me all the way up here.

I got introduced to my colleagues and they put me on the top of the latter on my
very first day. That is about 14 meters above the ground and then I got a crowbar
in my hand and then I just had to begin removing the old roof one meter at a time.

Sometimes is was really hard because the nails was all rusty and stuck
but sometimes it was so rotten that you could remove the roof with your bare hands.

For a veeeeeeeeery long time it was all about tearing down the roof. The boss of the
contructionsite sometimes replaced the rotten breams with new ones instead of helping me and
one other colleague removing the roof. I think that is the great thing about being the boss.
One day that will be me! I am sure.

Sometimes we had the most strange weather. One day in may we actually had
all the seasons in a timeframe of four hours. It started out like summer, then
all of a sudden it started to be autumn because a heavy rain started and then
came the winter because of the snow falling from the skye and then it was spring
because the sun came back and melted all the snow. So strange!

Of course there came a time when all the tearing down was done and
it became the time to start building it again. It was just as hard as tearing down
and for a long time - again - I experienced being absolutely busted when
I came home from work. We had a german guy for three weeks who helped
us out. He had just started his education like me. Sorry to say: he looked
like a goat.. ;) and he was not that good at english but we managed.

Building takes a lot less time than tearing down and at the same time it
is much more fun to build! The time flies away when you build. Some days
I was so surprised every time I looked at my watch because the time
was just gone in a second. That is the nice days.

But there came a time - again - when we had to tear down .. This time it was the old walls.

The most amazing thing about all this is:
- I learn all kinds of new stuff.
- I now get my own stuff to do and they trust me to do a good job.
- I get in charge of some new colleagues - A russian guy who wants me to teach
him to speak norwegian even though I am a dane? wtf?

This job is where I am supposed to be at the moment.
I still love being outside working even though we have some strange weather here
and I enjoy using my body and see the development there.
I have gained some mussels now ;)
